The Foster Town Council on Oct. 23 voted to approve a revision to ordinance section 12-48 (business dumpsters) that removes the licensing requirement while leaving other ordinance provisions unchanged.
Council members said the change was discussed at a previous meeting and that the proposed revision deletes only the licensing portion of the section. During discussion, a council member flagged a safety concern about a dumpster belonging to a group home that “sticks out in the road a bit,” saying snowplows could hit it during winter operations.
A motion to approve the revision passed on a voice vote; council members recorded no roll-call tally in the transcript. Council members reminded the audience that the rest of the ordinance remains in effect and that affected parties must still comply with the town’s rules.
The council did not specify additional enforcement steps at the Oct. 23 meeting; members said the ordinance remains applicable except for the removed licensing requirement.
