Regional Housing Council approves slate of advisory-board appointments

The Thurston County Regional Housing Council voted unanimously Oct. 22 to appoint recommended members to the Thurston Affordable Housing Advisory Board and the Homeless Services Advisory Board and to renew several incumbents’ terms.
The Thurston County Regional Housing Council on Oct. 22 approved appointments to two advisory bodies and renewed terms for four current members.
Affordable Housing Program Manager Alex Purst told the council that applications for both the Thurston Affordable Housing Advisory Board (TAHAB) and the Homeless Services Advisory Board (HASAB) were open Aug. 11–25 and that an advisory recruitment subcommittee prioritized applicants with lived experience, housing instability, and representation from target sectors. Purst said the subcommittee interviewed candidates in September and both advisory boards separately voted to recommend new members.
Purst said four candidates are being recommended to TAHAB: Bridal Pamush, Isabella Morrocco, Alex Barclay and Chris Wells. He said that, if appointed, those four would bring TAHAB to 12 members.
He said 14 people applied to HASAB; seven were interviewed and five are being recommended: Garrett Leonard, Sophie Blake, Harry Ann Ellis, Amelia Mott and Rebecca Hutchinson. Purst also reported that Meg Martin and Grace Lee are requesting term renewals for the Affordable Housing Advisory Board and Joshua Chaney and Candace Grama are requesting renewals for the Homeless Services Advisory Board.
A motion to approve the staff recommendation to appoint the recommended members and to approve the term renewals was made and seconded. The council voted and the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting also included a brief procedural action to approve the meeting minutes from Sept. 24 with a friendly amendment to correct a listing for Vanessa Dolby; the amendment was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
The council said staff would follow up with onboarding information for new members and that the staff report in the meeting packet contains candidate biographies and additional background.
