The Warren County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 21 approved plans and specifications for a sprinkler system project at the Warren County Secondary Roads facility and authorized staff to post bid documents and advertise for bids.
Tim, the county engineer, told the board the plans and specifications had been posted on the county website and would be placed in plan rooms; he said the documents were being posted “in the plan room tomorrow afternoon” and that the bid opening is scheduled for Nov. 21. The board discussed the decreased scope and size of the project and noted that moving to an above-ground pump and tank with a tank heater would reduce costs and maintenance risks compared with a fully underground system.
After the public-hearing portion produced no public comment, a supervisor moved to approve the plans and specifications and send the project out to bid. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with supervisors voting aye.
The engineer said staff will try to have a contract prepared for the board's first December meeting if the bidding and procurement schedule proceeds as expected.
The board encouraged staff to solicit multiple bidders and called for follow-up work to address freezing concerns for above-ground components; Tim said the design includes a tank heater to mitigate freeze damage.
