The Mobile County Commission approved multiple contracting steps for the City of Pritchard streets resurfacing project covering Kalioka Road and College Parkway.
On the project the commission approved a contract for professional engineering services to Driven Engineering for the Kalioka Road and College Parkway resurfacing; it also approved releasing Mott McDonald's Alabama from task construction engineering, inspection and construction materials testing for that contract. Separately the commission approved geotechnical services to Terracon and authorized acquisition of property rights, deeds and easements necessary for the projects.
Deputy Public Works Director Daniel updated commissioners on right-of-way status, saying the county is close to finishing acquisitions and that once right-of-way is secured the project will move into utility relocation. "We're close on right of way and then we'll go into utility relocation," Daniel told the commission. Staff also noted one outstanding parcel requires school-board approval before acquisition can be completed.
The votes authorize the county to proceed with detailed design, geotechnical analysis and right-of-way acquisition steps; the commission directed staff to continue negotiations and return with final documents and recommendations for construction bidding.
