San Joaquin County Planning Commission continues Alpine Road variance, approves two consent items

The commission voted to continue Item 3, the variance for a fence on Alpine Road, to the Nov. 20 meeting “to have a full commission present,” a county staff member told the commission. A motion to accept the continuance was made and seconded; the motion carried with recorded “yes” votes for Commissioner Mulis, Commissioner Sangha, Commissioner Tuhi Tabuchi and Commissioner Ruth Stoller.
On the consent calendar, the commission approved two items in a single motion. Item 1 (PA2300155) was approved with an added condition requiring that the project comply with all required mitigations in the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program dated 08/14/2025. Item 2 (PA2500159) was approved with a modification that the project is found categorically exempt pursuant to CEQA guidelines section 15,303 for the exemption reason set out in Attachment C of the staff report. Commissioners voting “yes” on the consent motion included Commissioner Tuohy Tavuki, Commissioner Sengham, Commissioner Milas and Commissioner Rustler; the chair announced both consent items were approved.
A county staff member provided an update on recent Board of Supervisors actions and upcoming items. The staff member said the board approved a rehearing of an administrative use permit for a cell tower at the River Club. Upcoming Board of Supervisors agenda items listed by staff include two Williamson Act cancellations, a general plan and development-title text amendment that CDD is preparing, and a conditional use permit for “Camp Gold Star,” described in the report as a private resort with 25 lodges in the Delta. The staff member also noted the Nov. 20 meeting will include the Alpine Road fence variance continued from this meeting and that nothing was pre-scheduled for the Dec. 4 meeting.
There were no public comments on matters not on the agenda during the public-comment period. The chair noted Commissioner Rhodes was absent at roll call. The meeting was then adjourned.
