Board pulls a set of minutes for correction after packet error

At the Oct. 16 meeting, Huntley Community School District 158 Board members identified an apparent change in wording between the committee-of-the-whole minutes previously reviewed on Oct. 2 and the copy attached to the Oct. 16 packet. The board agreed to remove the Aug. 7 committee-of-the-whole minutes from the approval vote so staff could replace the packet copy with the original version for review and approval at the November meeting.
Why it matters: Board minutes are the official record of board deliberations. The board's vice president (board secretary functions were referenced during the discussion) said the wrong document had likely been attached and that she would provide the correct version for the next packet. Several members thanked the board secretary for catching the discrepancy.
Vote: The board moved to accept the packet minutes with the exception of the Aug. 7 committee-of-the-whole minutes; the motion carried 7-0. Staff said the corrected minutes will be presented for approval at the November meeting.
