During discussion, board members emphasized that the event will be city-sponsored and coordinated with the VFW but that the VFW will perform most of the “heavy lifting.” The board also discussed logistics including trash pickup, portable microphone needs and whether city staff should be scheduled to support the event if attendance is larger than expected. The board was told there is no expected charge for participation; if food is present, it is likely to be donated rather than sold.
