MassDEP federal grants director reports Superfund oversight, Hanover site listing panel set for Nov. 17

Diane Baxter, director of the division of federal grant programs, said MassDEP continues oversight of federal cleanup work despite mixed effects from a federal agency shutdown. “Most of the people we work with at EPA are still working through this shutdown which has been a good surprise. Most of the people we work with at defense agencies are not working,” Baxter said.
Baxter said MassDEP oversees 31 Superfund sites and 12 federal facilities. She said EPA will present to its listing panel on Nov. 17 to consider placing the former National Fireworks site in Hanover on the National Priorities List; MassDEP has awaited that hearing since March.
