Staff listed affected locations including the athletic facility at the middle school; the football facility office at the high school; certain high‑school classrooms and the crime lab; and a kindergarten wing at Hillsborough with roughly 15 classrooms that use packaged or PTAC units. The library and some bump‑out additions were also identified as having older units.
Staff recommended a multi‑year replacement program, replacing five to seven of the oldest or worst units per year, rather than attempting to convert all units at once. Committee members agreed the staged approach would spread costs over several years; staff said replacement priorities will focus on units that are most at risk of failure or for which parts and refrigerant are hardest to obtain.
No funding allocation was adopted at the meeting. Staff noted the exercise will reduce long‑term maintenance risk and the potential for emergency outages if parts or refrigerant become unavailable.
