Council appoints Savannah Casey to fill vacant seat after public interviews

The council followed a previously announced selection procedure: each of the five applicants made short statements, council members asked questions, nominations were opened with no seconds required, and a roll-call vote was taken. Councilors narrowed the field to two nominees — Savannah Casey and William Bosselletti — before voting. The clerk announced the tally: four votes for Savannah Casey and two for William Bosselletti.
Casey, who introduced herself as the director of operations at the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry and a six-year city resident, told council she wanted to focus on the riverfront and said she would abstain when conflicts required it. Other candidates who addressed the council included Joshua Archer, Jeff Eschborn, William Bosselletti and Bianca Valella. Questions from councilors focused on candidates’ availability, potential conflicts of interest, skills and priorities.
Mayor Wertman and council members thanked all five applicants for volunteering. Casey was sworn in at the end of the meeting. The appointment fills the council seat through Jan. 3, 2028, per the procedure described at the meeting.
