Resident urges stronger action on West Beach Road traffic during public comment

Alan Hutchison, a Beach Park resident, used the public‑comment portion of the village board’s virtual meeting to urge trustees to take stronger action on persistent traffic and speed problems on West Beach Road west of Green Bay Road.

Hutchison said the situation has not improved since discussions earlier in the year and described frequent excessive speeds and near‑misses, including one incident near his driveway. He said the village has initiated contact with Waukegan but that tangible progress has been limited and asked trustees to use the off season to plan for traffic mitigation ahead of next year.

Hutchison told the board he was willing to meet with village staff and attend any meetings to help plan improvements. He said the safety problems have persisted through multiple seasons and emphasized the need for measurable improvements for the 2026 season.

The board thanked Hutchison for his comments; staff earlier noted the possible exploration of traffic calming measures linked to a 2027 resurfacing but did not provide immediate commitments at the meeting.

Hutchison closed by saying, “Please help us get our neighborhood back,” and offered to provide photos and additional information to village staff.
