Rosemount calendar: Fire Department open house, Oktoberfest and Manufacturing Month proclamation

Council members used the Oct. 7 meeting to publicize a series of community events and to recognize a recent rescue by city police and firefighters.

Fire Chief Springer and Lieutenant Jeff Feder announced the Fire Department Open House on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Station 2. The open house will include live demonstrations (car extrication), a helicopter landing, ladder and aerial demonstrations, rappelling demonstrations, a walk-through safety house for children, hose spraying, an obstacle course, fire-truck tours and complimentary food. Commander and council members thanked four police officers (Trevor Wagner, Sarah Huebacher, John Klectner and Chloe Von Bank) for their role in rescuing a resident and a dog from a second-story during a recent townhouse fire; city staff described the response as a strong example of police-fire collaboration that helped contain fire damage to the unit of origin.

Parks and recreation staff announced the second annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 11 in Central Park from noon to 7 p.m. The event will feature three food trucks (Nasi's Grill, Gerhard's Bratz, Rulen's Strudel House), music (a polka band from the South Metro 12–3 p.m. and a DJ from 3:30–7 p.m.), costume contests, brewery gift-certificate giveaways, and free axe-throwing via a trailer on-site.

Economic development staff introduced a proclamation designating October 2025 as Manufacturing Month in Rosemount. Mayor Jeffrey E. Wiesensel read the proclamation, which cited the local manufacturing base and a recent $71 million expansion at Spectra Alloys. The council formally proclaimed October as Manufacturing Month.

The council also reminded residents of the port authority meeting Oct. 21 and the next council meeting on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
