District completes lock upgrades, emphasizes visitor management and SRO partnership

The district’s safety and security leader told the Warren County School Board that classroom and exterior door locks have been replaced with an electronic system, visitor-management systems are being strengthened and school resource officer (SRO) partnerships remain central to campus security.
Ray Robinson, identified by the district as leading safety and security efforts, said the district has “gone through a different team system, an electronic system” and that nearly all locks have been changed districtwide. “All school buildings have had locks changed,” Robinson said; the superintendent confirmed the district also tightened procedures around distributing keys and centralized building entry points.
Robinson described on-campus training, traffic-flow work at Irving College and continuing lighting upgrades. He said some detailed aspects of safety operations are not discussed in public meetings: “I know that's not a lot. You knew before I got up here, I wasn't gonna tell you a whole lot about the interviews, intricacies of the things that we're doing because that's not for meetings like this.”
On visitor management, Robinson and staff said front-office personnel are pre-registering events and configuring the visitor-management system to record and vet visitors before large gatherings. Robinson praised the district’s SROs and the Warren County Sheriff's Department for daily collaboration and said community feedback about traffic-flow changes has been positive.
