Trumbull County commissioners approve routine contracts, road and utility projects; ribbon-cutting announced

The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 20 approved a slate of routine motions including a bridge contract, road closure, sewer and water projects, personnel actions and service agreements; planning staff announced a CDBG-funded ribbon cutting for a senior center improvement.
The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved 20 agenda items including contracts, road and utility projects, personnel moves and routine financial measures during a roughly one-hour public meeting and scheduled public events.
The actions included awarding a $260,020 contract to US Bridge Division of the Ohio Bridge Corporation for two bridge kits, authorizing a road closure in Southington Township for culvert replacement from Aug. 18 through Sept. 12, 2025, and directing the sanitary engineer to issue a notice to proceed to ZTECH Builders and Excavators Inc. for the Stateline Road Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project in Brookfield Township. Commissioners also approved the Anderson Morris Road Water Improvements Project after a public hearing record showed 67.45% support and 32.55% opposition based on benefited front footage.
The meeting also covered administrative items: adopting the 2026 tax levies as certified by the Trumbull County Budget Commission, approving purchase orders under ORC 5705.41(D) as then-and-now purchases, renewing a fire-protection service agreement with Johnson Controls Fire Protection for $11,986.62 for county buildings, appointing county representatives to regional bodies, and authorizing bid advertisements for Trumbull County stone building renovations. A personnel transfer for Elizabeth Zagorski and a membership change on the county family services planning committee were among the personnel actions approved.
Julie Green, Trumbull County Planning, announced a public ribbon-cutting for the Howland Scope Center improvement project, scheduled for Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. at 8273 High Street. "There was, close to $250,000 invested into that facility benefiting our seniors," Green said, and invited commissioners and the public to attend.
Commissioners moved into and reconvened from an executive session under Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G)(1) to consider personnel matters; no public actions associated with the executive session were taken on the record. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
