St. Louis Board hears FEMA update and timeline questions as tornado repairs proceed

Superintendent comments and a presentation from facilities staff and the district’s FEMA coordinator said FEMA has created projects for every damaged school, that insurance and FEMA have cooperated on scoping and documentation, and that mitigation measures have been accepted and will be rolled into project costs. “All FEMA projects for all schools have been created,” the district’s FEMA presenter said during the meeting.
Board members pressed staff on what “ready” would mean for students returning to damaged buildings. Chief Watson said the district is developing “workable plans to get the buildings safe to reenter as soon as possible,” noting some repairs hinge on contractor and material…
