ERC approves multiple rezones, zoning amendments and a final plat; most items forwarded to county board

The Marathon County Environmental Resources Committee on Sept. 30 voted to recommend approval of multiple rezoning petitions and a final plat and to forward them to the Marathon County Board of Supervisors for final action. - Item 5a5 (County-initiated rezones, towns of Brighton, Eau Plain, Hull and Marathon): Shad Harvey presented a package of 234 parcels to make the county zoning maps consistent with the Marathon County Farm Preservation Plan updates required by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Supervisor Cifel moved to recommend approval; Supervisor Drebeck seconded. Committee voice vote "Aye;" motion carried. Staff said these parcels were moved to ineligible for farmland preservation in a 2024 plan update and that the parcel table in the staff report identifies recommended new districts based on parcel size.
- Item 5b1 (Town of Texas proposed changes to the town zoning ordinance): Motion to recommend approval by Supervisor Kroll; second by Supervisor Curth. Committee voice vote "Aye;" motion carried. Staff reported the town-level changes address wind and solar, animal units and definitions and that the proposed language is consistent with state guidance.
- Item 5b2 (Town of Texas: Douglas and Bernadine Wilke rezone RS-140 to C-1): Motion to recommend approval by Supervisor Seefeldt; second by Supervisor Schomborn. Committee voice vote "Aye;" motion carried.
- Item 5d1 (Bauer's County Plat Second Addition, Town of Spencer): County surveyor David Bakker presented the final plat and noted it met plattng and zoning requirements, soil testing and sanitary approvals. Supervisor Seefeldt moved to approve the final plat; Supervisor Drebeck seconded. Committee voice vote "Aye;" motion carried.
