Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation District partnered with the city on a cleanup along Prairie Run Creek to pick up trash and debris. Committee members said volunteers also removed old fishing line and other items from city reservoirs. The committee reported that Evening Street has been closed since Sept. 22 for a water-main replacement and is expected to reopen Oct. 3; staff cautioned that access to nearby park facilities may be limited while the work continues.
At Freedom Park, millings from the street-improvement program were spread along the park drive “all the way to the back,” according to the update, a practice the city performs annually. Committee members described the completed millings as improving the park roadway. The report noted that disc golfers had contacted staff to say they appreciated the improvement.
Brooke Gable, an Eagle Scout, designed and built a pedestrian bridge at Freedom Park as an Eagle Scout project. Staff referenced photos in the meeting packet (packet pages 7–8) and said the bridge has already received positive comments from park users. A committee member described the bridge as “impressive.”
Other park items: Rosecrans Park and Old Orchard Park had no new updates; Old Church Park had no update. Sudbury Memorial Park recorded one burial this month. Town Square had no new developments reported.
Committee members also briefly referenced an existing city fund and a draft donation policy that lists suggested donation levels; staff said the fund is already established to accept donations and that council sign-off would concern awareness and the proposed levels rather than creating a new mechanism. No formal council action on the donation policy was recorded in the transcript.
