Fairhope plans police precinct, accepts $750,000 donation for fire training facility

Mayor Sherry Sullivan told attendees the city is investing in public-safety personnel and facilities in 2025, including design work for a new police precinct and continuing equipment purchases for police and fire.
Sullivan said the city has leased property on Highway 98 as an interim police precinct location while engineering design work proceeds for a permanent facility. She said the city is buying new vehicles, Tasers and fire apparatus and continuing personnel training.
The mayor announced that the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation donated $750,000 to the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department for a new training facility. Sullivan described the Single Tax Corporation as a longtime partner that steps in for projects that do not fit in the municipal budget.
Sullivan said property has been donated for a future fire station and that the city will share more details as projects progress. She thanked volunteers and the police and volunteer fire personnel present at the Expo.
