Committee approves cleanup bill to remove redundant VDOT reporting requirement

The Senate Committee on Transportation reported Senate Bill 1340 unanimously after hearing testimony from VDOT staff. The bill removes a duplicate reporting requirement for the Innovation and Technology Transportation Fund and repeals obsolete enactment clauses left when a related code subsection was repealed in 2022.
Joanne Maxwell of VDOT told the committee the bill is a technical cleanup: VDOT currently reports the same fund information in two places and one of the enactment clauses was tied to a subsection that no longer exists. The bill consolidates reporting into a single annual report and eliminates the obsolete requirement.
Committee members voted in favor by voice vote and the clerk recorded the committee report with 14 ayes and no nays in the transcript.
