San Antonio Food Bank briefs commissioners on Hunger Action Month and local distribution in Wilson County

Mario Blado Jr., chief of government and public affairs at the San Antonio Food Bank, told the Wilson County Commissioners Court on Sept. 22 that Hunger Action Month focuses attention on food insecurity and community response.
Blado said the San Antonio Food Bank serves over 100,000 individuals each week across a 29‑county service area in Southwest Texas and that local grocery retailers and producers are essential partners. He highlighted a weekly food distribution in Floresville at the Show Barn off Highway 97 at 9 a.m. and provided the food bank’s contact information.
Blado also noted the food bank’s role in mobilizing food and water during disasters and named recent flood response in Kerr, Kendall and Tom Green counties. He thanked Wilson County volunteers and officials for past support and said the organization is available to coordinate with local shelters and emergency operations if needed.
