Board renews McMurray University MOU and Early College interlocal; dual-enrollment counts grow at high school

The board approved renewal of the district's memorandum of understanding with McMurray University and the interlocal agreement for Mercedes Early College Academy (MECA) dual-enrollment programs for the 2025–26 school year.
A district staff member identified in the meeting as Vanessa (dual-enrollment coordinator) briefed the board: McMurray's contemporary math 1354 is an online, one‑semester course that counts as dual-enrollment precalculus credit and is transferable among Texas colleges and universities, she said. She said the high school has added approximately 120 students taking that course and that the district uses the program to assist students who have not passed the TSI or who need college-level credit while in high school.
Trustees asked about recruitment efforts and noted that ninth‑grade recruitment has been lower for the next cohort; staff said outreach includes parent meetings, flyers and campus-based recruitment and that high-school counselors and deans coordinate placement to avoid assigning students to courses they are unlikely to complete.
