The Mercedes ISD Board approved issuing a competitive sealed proposal (CSP No. 09-03-25-413) to solicit contractors for reroofing the older Mercedes High School gym and for wall restoration and roof-drain repairs at Sergeant Harrell Elementary.
Facilities staff and committee members briefed trustees that the projects were prioritized after campus walk-throughs and committee review. Mr. Redondo and Mr. Lando Herrera described timelines and said the work will be advertised; they noted the schedule had been adjusted owing to the committee meeting taking place later than planned.
Facilities staff said the project will be primarily funded by disaster pennies previously allocated by the state; Dr. Noyola and committee members reiterated that additional disaster-pennies funding that may arrive in January or February could allow further prioritized repairs.
The motion to approve the CSP solicitation carried by roll call; staff will share a projected timeline for advertisement, bid receipt and award.
Ending: The board authorized staff to proceed with advertisement and receive bids; final contract awards will return to the board for approval.
