The Fort Atkinson Plan Commission on Sept. 23 approved a site plan for a 342-square-foot addition at Jones Dairy Farm’s main plant at 800 Jones Avenue.
City staff said the addition involves about 3,000 square feet of area disturbance and that the new work will replace existing impervious surfaces, so no new stormwater management measures were required. Staff noted mechanical equipment facing Janesville Avenue would be screened with vegetation and fencing and that landscape and exterior-design standards are met.
Jed Drager, director of building and neighborhood services, told commissioners the addition retains the site’s brick exterior and is consistent with the industrial designation on the future land use map. Commissioners observed the addition’s overhead door faces the interior of the lot and that the view from Janesville Avenue and the Glacier River Trail will be screened.
A motion to approve the site plan passed by voice vote; no conditions beyond standard screening and landscaping were reported in the meeting discussion.
