Glendora Youth Soccer reported strong registration numbers to the Community Service Commission and described operational changes aimed at increasing consistency and reducing field wear.
President Jenna Lacour said the league registered 1,429 players this season on 112 teams and employs 181 volunteer coaches; 79% of registered players are Glendora residents, up from 75% the prior year. Lacour said the board instituted caps on divisions this year based on recent threeโyear participation trends so divisions would have predictable team counts and sizes. She said the cap effort still allowed the league to increase participation by more than 100 players compared with the previous year and reduced the wait list from 42 to 21.
Lacour described other operational changes: a reassignment model for referees to place an experienced center referee at matches while using newer referees on the sidelines; expanded referee training; and a fieldโcrew staffed by past and present players that paints lines, sets up nets, and maintains fields. The league also moved to QuickBooks for accounting and introduced sponsorships and a gear shop to raise nonโregistration revenue.
Lacour said the league is monitoring olderโage divisions for coaching recruitment challenges and noted attempts to form a girlsโonly 15โ17 division this season did not meet the minimum numbers needed for four teams; some girls either dropped down to younger girls divisions or joined coโed teams.
Commissioners asked whether Glendora residents on the wait list were prioritized; Lacour said the league will consider residency prioritization and that registration opened March 1 and teams were drafted after registration closed to help the league finalize uniforms and rosters. No formal action was taken.
