St. Pete Beach to televise and clean 38 miles of sanitary sewer, uncovering 826 manholes

Camden Mills, public services director for the City of St. Pete Beach, said the city will begin a comprehensive project in late October to televise and clean its sanitary sewer system, covering 38 miles of pipe and more than 826 manholes.

"This project will include televising and cleaning over 826 manholes and 38 miles of underground sewer pipes," Mills said, calling the work important for system reliability, long-term maintenance and capital planning. He said the inspections will help the city identify deficiencies and prioritize repairs.

Mills said the project is scheduled to last about one year and will start on the south side of the island in the Pass-a-Grille area, with crews working systematically north. He said contractors will operate 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and residents will be notified seven days in advance of work near them.

The project will require access to manholes located in the public right of way. "It's important for residents to know that some of these manholes may be located in areas that are currently landscaped or have paver driveways, and we will be uncovering those manholes as needed," Mills said. He added that the city "will not be responsible for restoring materials that are within the right of way."

City officials said progress updates will be posted on the City of St. Pete Beach website and social media channels.
