Committee hears update on PSIA channel widening study, inlet warranty work and signage responsibilities

The committee received an update Oct. 14 on a feasibility study and capital-improvement items including an inlet-widening warranty and a PSIA channel coordinate widening study.
Mark Storm said Hans Wilson Associates is on board to perform a feasibility study that will include surveying land and water depths, and that phase one of work is obtaining bathymetric data and footage near structures such as boat lifts and docks. "The biggest thing would be the surveying of both land and water and depths and then getting into the permitting part of it," Storm said. He said the study requires a purchase order and additional funding steps are pending with city procurement and finance.
On capital improvements, Storm said the city is responsible for signage and grass maintenance related to the inlet-widening warranty work. He noted staff had applied fertilizer recently as part of maintenance and that warranty responsibilities cover construction-signage tasks, riprap placement and related hard-material work.
Committee members asked about timelines and next steps for permitting and contracting; Storm said the project is in early phases and that more detail will be provided as procurement and the engineering firm advance the study.
No formal votes or contract awards were made at the meeting.
