Advisory committee urges city to pursue 3–4 acre 'Squirrel 21' parcel again

Committee members on Oct. 14 pressed city staff to renew efforts to acquire a roughly 3.5–4 acre parcel described in the meeting as "Squirrel 21," after attendees noted the property was listed for sale again.
Mark Storm outlined the committee's earlier request from Sept. 4 to pursue available land parcels and said he recently followed up with procurement and finance but had not yet received price or availability information. "I haven't got a price back or availability yet," Storm said. He told members the request had been delayed by end-of-year budget work and interdepartmental processing.
Committee members said the parcel was previously on the market during the group's earlier discussions and that the committee lost an earlier opportunity when procurement did not move quickly enough. One member suggested a weekly follow-up to push the request up the chain. The committee asked staff to coordinate with city council and procurement to pursue the northern portion of the parcel, which members said would meet the committee's needs.
Storm said the committee should continue to press procurement and noted recent communication with council could help. Don Sudbury's application to the committee was mentioned during announcements; members also discussed involving council members who had previously helped in acquisition efforts.
No formal motion or expenditure was approved at the meeting; staff said they would continue to pursue price and availability and report back.
