Rep. Sean Dygert introduces bill to expand alfalfa and clover seed commission, add U. of Idaho representative

Representative Sean Dygert, District 23, introduced RS 32251 to the House Agriculture Affairs Committee, asking the committee to move forward with growers’ proposed changes to the alfalfa and clover seed commission.

The measure would increase the commission’s board from six members to seven, reduce the number of grower seats from six to five, add one representative from the University of Idaho College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, remove the word “substantial” from a definition tied to who is assessed, and raise the statutory assessment cap (described in committee testimony as changing from a one-fourth-cent cap to a cap of one cent).
