Committee corrects school health-insurance allocation to $21,902 per support unit

The Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee on Feb. 12 accepted a technical correction to the public schools program maintenance bill that specifies the per-support-unit health insurance distribution as $21,902.
The change was introduced by Jared Tatro, deputy division manager for Legislative Services' Budget and Policy Analysis Division, who told the committee that public schools do not receive a per-full-time-equivalent (FTE) amount but rather an allocated dollar amount per support unit. Tatro said the correct dollar amount, after multiplication and rounding, is $21,902 and that “that language, that dollar amount is required to be in the bill so that the Department of Education knows how much to distribute per support unit.”
Committee leadership requested unanimous consent to include the corrected figure in the program maintenance bill. With no objections, the chair ordered the change by unanimous consent.
The action was procedural and limited to specifying the calculated distribution amount; no further debate or changes to the underlying funding policy were recorded.
