Subcommittee tables bill to extend hazard-duty supplement eligibility to age 67 amid fiscal concerns
Summary

Delegate Davis said HB 2315 would allow members of VALORs to receive the same hazard-duty supplement that another group currently receives until age 67; under current law the VALORs cutoff is age 65, the patron said.
A staff fiscal estimate provided to the committee placed the second-year cost at about $2.3 million from the general fund. Committee members said the policy was sympathetic but, given competing budget priorities and the requirement for a balanced budget, they preferred to defer the measure for further consideration.
A motion to "gently lay this on the table" carried by a recorded 4–3 vote.
