JFAC approves FY 2026 Community Corrections maintenance: personnel annualization for Pocatello reentry center among items

Noah Peterson of the Legislative Services Office briefed the committee on the fiscal year 2026 budget for the Department of Correction’s Community Corrections Division, which includes probation, parole, community supervision, and the community reentry centers.
Peterson said enhancement 7 in the request covers personnel annualization for positions at the Pocatello Community Reentry Center that were funded only for six months in the prior appropriation. The enhancement and other items included a $680,700 annualization for personnel costs (described in the materials), $212,300 for general inflation adjustments and $1,574,000 for replacement items.
On the floor, Representative Manwaring moved the maintenance-and-enhancement package as presented; the motion specified additional line items totaling $116,200 from the general fund and $2,350,800 from dedicated funds for a combined $2,467,000 increase for FY 2026. Senator Wintrow seconded the motion.
The clerks recorded the roll call. The committee reported a combined result of 16 ayes, three nays and one absent/excused, and the motion carried. The chair said the item will go forward with a due-pass recommendation.
