JFAC adopts FY 2026 general fund revenue projection of $6.4 billion after roll call

The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee voted to adopt a general fund revenue projection of $6.4 billion for fiscal year 2026, the committee chair announced after a roll call vote.
Committee members had before them the Economic Outlook and Revenue Assessment Committee’s median recommendation and the governor’s revenue projections; the Economic Outlook Committee recommended the $6.4 billion figure for FY 2026. A motion to adopt that recommendation was made and seconded; Senator Galloway seconded the motion.
During discussion, Senator Janie Ward Engleking said she would vote no because she prefers setting revenue projections earlier in the session so that spending and tax decisions are guided by a fixed revenue number. Another legislator, Representative Price, recorded a “nay” on the roll call.
Clerks recorded the roll call: in the Senate side the result was six ayes, two nays and two excused; on the House side the result was 10 ayes, zero nays, zero excused; combined, the committee reported 16 ayes, two nays and two absent/excused, and the motion carried.
The committee chair said the adopted revenue number will go forward to guide further budget decisions.
