College of Eastern Idaho urges funding to expand CTE capacity, cites 465‑student CTE wait list

Dr. Lori Barber, president of the College of Eastern Idaho, told the Joint Finance‑Appropriations Committee that CEI has rapid growth and that capacity limits in facilities, faculty and equipment are preventing the college from serving hundreds of students who want career‑technical education.
"In fall 2024, we actually had 465 CTE students who wanted a space in one of our CTE programs," Barber said. She said the college tried to redirect some applicants to general education or prerequisites but could not place those students in their chosen CTE programs.
