Representative Jordan Redmond (District 3) presented RS 31926, describing it as legislation that would remove certain nonemergency health-care and social benefits currently available to people in the U.S. without legal status while preserving emergency medical services.
"This bill leaves in place emergency medical services for people that are here legally currently through Idaho code. The bill removes non emergency health care benefits and some social benefits," Redmond said, adding that state resources should be prioritized "for the most vulnerable citizens in our state."
A motion to introduce RS 31926 was made and the committee voted to introduce the measure for a full hearing. No formal enactment or changes to benefits were made at the meeting; the RS was introduced for committee consideration.
