Rep. Kaler introduces interstate dietitian licensure compact for committee hearing

Representative Lucas Kaler (District 11) presented RS 32071, a proposed interstate compact to provide licensure portability for dietitians and reduce administrative burdens for practitioners working across state lines.
"This bill establishes the dietitian licensure compact, an interstate agreement designed to facilitate the practice of dietetics across State lines while ensuring public health and safety," Kaler said, noting Idaho already participates in five health-care licensure compacts and several other states have pending legislation.
Representative Fuhrman asked whether the regulatory body that licenses dietitians had weighed in on administrative costs or impacts; Kaler said fees should remain consistent with current statute and that he would provide additional information at a full hearing. Representative Redmond moved to introduce the RS; the committee voted to introduce it and the motion carried.
No statutory changes were made at the meeting; the RS was introduced for a formal hearing where agency feedback was requested.
