Lisa Paulus, Jerome, introduces herself to Senate panel for Public Charter School Commission seat

The Idaho Senate Education Committee heard testimony from Lisa Paulus of Jerome, Idaho, who is the governor's nominee to the Idaho Public Charter School Commission for a term commencing Oct. 10, 2024, and expiring May 12, 2028.
Paulus told the committee she grew up in Post Falls, graduated from Post Falls High School and Idaho State University with a political science degree, and has professional experience in television station management. She said she has served on the board of the Magic Valley Boys and Girls Club for about 17 years and on its executive board for about 15 years.
Committee members asked Paulus about the skills she would bring to the commission and her priorities if appointed. In response to a question from Senator Cook about her chief asset, Paulus said, "My biggest asset is honestly in management and in business. ... I'm a good decision maker and I'm a good manager." Senators pressed her on relations between charter and traditional public schools and on serving students with additional needs; Paulus said she favors communication and negotiation and stressed individualized attention for students.
Chair concluded the questioning by saying the committee would take Paulus's recommendation under consideration and expected to hold a vote at the committee's next meeting.
