Schmidt also recognized law library staff and said Elaine Bogle, a law library assistant, received a certificate of appreciation from Clackamas County Circuit Court for helping a self‑represented litigant navigate electronic filing and public printers.
Later in the meeting, Schmidt briefed commissioners on a three‑alarm fire at the former Blue Heron paper mill site, now called Tamwata Village and owned by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Clackamas Fire District 1 responded immediately and the fire was extinguished. Schmidt said state officials were on site because the former mill property contains contaminated soil and officials were investigating to confirm there was no harm to the community. The cause of the fire was not known at the time of the update.
