North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District adopts updated naming policy for Concord property

Sitting as the North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) Board of Directors on March 6, the county's parks staff presented and the board approved an updated parks and facilities naming policy intended to guide naming of the Concord property and other district‑owned assets.
Kia Celi, NCPRD district director, told directors the current naming policy — adopted in February 2006 — is outdated. The proposed revisions narrow the policy to assets owned by NCPRD (excluding properties owned by other jurisdictions that NCPRD operates) and add a role for the District Advisory Committee (DAC) to review naming recommendations before they are forwarded to the board. Celi said the district plans a naming process this summer tied to Concord property improvements, which include a renovated community center, new park, playground and splash pad.
Board members said the DAC recommended a minimum public notice period (board discussion referenced 45 days) and emphasized that the policy would not itself select a name; community engagement will follow under the new policy. Director Paul Savas moved to approve the updated policy; Director West seconded. The clerk recorded a 4‑0 vote in favor.
