Board approves resolution dedicating three new sidewalks to City of Burlington for maintenance

Legal counsel for the city and the district worked on the draft. Joe Wythe of White and Burke was present to answer questions about the legal and administrative steps the dedication requires. District staff told the board that the transfer prevents the district from needing to independently maintain small, isolated sidewalks near campus and allows the city to include those sidewalks in routine public maintenance.
Commissioner Sowers moved the resolution; Commissioner McDonald seconded. After a short discussion about whether the district would incur additional direct costs if the city did not accept maintenance, board members voted in the affirmative and the motion passed.
