The San Rafael City Schools Board approved a memorandum of understanding with Safe School Ambassadors to implement an evidence-based, student-led anti-bullying program at Coleman Elementary for the 2025–26 school year.
Principal (Coleman Elementary) told the board the program includes two days of on-campus trainer visits and the training of about 35–40 student ambassadors. The MOU is supported by an $8,000 award that covers trainer costs; the school site said the only direct local cost would be substitute teachers for three staff members during the two trainer days, estimated at roughly $1,020 based on Monday/Tuesday substitute rates.
District staff framed the program as a Tier 1 component of the school’s multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and linked it to the site’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The board moved, seconded and approved the MOU by voice vote.
