DuPage County staff to pick preferred East Branch Bike Trail alignment; committee hears plow readiness and Winfield Road concerns

Plow readiness and equipment
Mike, a county staff member, reported the county is in midseason plow preparation. "We've got, I'd say, over 75% of them ready. If we were to have snow tomorrow, we'd be perfectly fine," he said. He added the county had received six of eight vehicles in the first batch and is awaiting two additional units; further deliveries are expected in the summer.
Winfield Road and IDOT speed policy review
A committee member raised longstanding concerns about traffic and truck volumes on Winfield Road and thanked staff for temporary striping work. Staff noted that the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has adopted a new speed limit policy; county staff are reviewing the IDOT policy and may bring a recommendation to the committee on adopting a formal county policy consistent with IDOT guidance.
Intergovernmental agreement
The committee approved an intergovernmental agreement between DuPage County and the Downers Grove Township Road District for the Downers Grove Township 2025 Road Maintenance Program. The agreement was described on the record as having no county cost. The committee moved and seconded the item and approved it by voice vote.
