Brian Conley appeared before the City Council to accept a nomination to the Transportation Advisory Board and described his background in education and district-level planning. Conley said he has been a Salt Lake City resident for about 20 years, described 27 years of experience working with children and families, and said his current role as a boundary and planning director takes him across the city and informs his interest in transportation, walkability and school access.
Councilmembers thanked Conley for volunteering and said they valued his K–12 and planning perspective. Councilmember Young said educators bring a long‑range view to civic decisions, and other members praised Conley’s collaborative experience. The council chair said Conley’s name would be placed on the consent agenda at the council’s next formal meeting for adoption; the work session record shows staff announced placement on the consent agenda and that the candidate “need not be present” for the consent adoption.
No formal appointment vote was taken at the work session. The item will be decided on the council’s consent agenda at a subsequent formal meeting per the council announcement.
