Project manager Todd Pillar told the Hot Springs Board of Directors during an agenda review that staff will ask the board at its Oct. 21 meeting to waive competitive bidding under Arkansas Code Annotated 14-47-138 and authorize a not-to-exceed $3,180,513 agreement with Maxfoot Construction LLC to prepare the Davidson Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant site for two new tertiary filters.
Pillar said the board previously approved purchase of two tertiary filters from Aqua-Aerobic on Oct. 7, and the Maxfoot contract covers site preparation, a large foundation and retaining wall, inlet and outlet piping, valves and offloading when the filters arrive. Pillar said the filters will weigh about 300,000 pounds in operation; shipping weight is approximately 65,000 pounds each, and the filters are about 35 feet long, 12 feet wide and 15 feet high. The price is slightly higher than earlier estimates because this contract was based on 100% plans rather than 80% plans. Pillar said the work will be funded from the 2025 wastewater bond fund.
The item is on the Oct. 21 agenda for board consideration; no vote occurred at the agenda review.
