The Town of Hampden Select Board voted on Oct. 20 to rescind a prior approval of a liquor‑license transfer for the Hamlin liquor store after town staff identified inaccuracies and missing documentation on the original application.
Board members said the applicant’s Department of Unemployment certification had expired as of Aug. 5, 2025, and the application’s section about pledged inventory did not match the applicants’ form answers. The board also noted the applicant’s previous liquor licenses in Springfield and Longmeadow were not correctly listed on the form and that the applicant’s counsel had not responded to the board’s attempt to resolve the deficiencies before the meeting.
A Select Board member moved to rescind the approval so the applicant could correct the application and refile; the motion passed and the board agreed to take the matter up again at a subsequent meeting once the applicant submits updated paperwork. The board recorded that local licensing votes will still be required at the appropriate time and that state filings must be current before the board votes again.
No fines or penalties were imposed; the board’s action was procedural — rescinding a prior local vote so the file can be corrected before a future approval.
