Committee hears plan to lease new loader, replace 23‑year mini excavator; staff to surplus old units

The director said the reach‑arm attachment saved the city roughly $100,000 compared with buying a separate tractor and attachment several years ago.
Staff said the current mini excavator is 23 years old, is out of service, needs new tracks and other major repairs and is not safe or reliable to send into service. The director said staff plans to list surplus units on GovDeals or negotiate a dealer buyback; any trade‑in or sale would be a separate transaction from the lease purchase.
Storage and operations: committee members raised where new equipment would be stored if the city consolidates facilities. The director said Holman and other satellite buildings have been used to cycle equipment and that, depending on the final facility plan, the city may need to retain some existing units for space and operational continuity.
Ending: staff asked for questions and said they would proceed with procurement steps if the committee supported moving forward with the lease and replacement planning.
