Board adopts revised LCAP to add Learning Recovery Block Grant funding of about $150,000

Gateway Unified School District trustees opened and closed a public hearing and approved a revised 2025–26 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) that incorporates newly available Learning Recovery Block Grant funds.
A district staff member said the grant revenue was not included in the district'''s 45-day revised budget but is now budgeted. "We're at least getting a $150,000 this year," the staff member said. The district said it must incorporate the revenue into the LCAP before spending it and described intended uses including summer school, summer curriculum, and after-school tutoring to address learning gaps.
The staff member noted that some funds have eligibility restrictions for particular grades (references were made to sixth and ninth grade in an eligibility discussion) and that the district will align the use of funds to its reconfiguration work where appropriate. Board members asked about contracting and timing for summer programs; staff said they would coordinate with district colleagues and vendors.
The board took formal action to approve the revised LCAP following the public hearing. The revision is intended to allow the district to obligate and spend the Learning Recovery Block Grant money in the 2025–26 year.
