JFAC approves DHW indirect-support funding and orders vehicle-utilization report

Ms. Williamson presented the division's packet, noting the division provides policy direction, administrative leadership and management support across the department, including management services, IT services, legal services and the director's office. The requested items included SQL Server replacement funding, replacement items totaling $2,237,800 and OITS support hardware at $1,834,300.
Representative Mitchell moved the funding package; Cyndi Bierke seconded. The committee approved the package by recorded vote (Senate 9 aye, 1 nay; House 8 aye, 0 nay, 2 absent and excused) for a combined total of 17 ayes, 1 nay and 2 absent and excused; the motion carried and will carry a due-pass recommendation.
Attached language requires the Department of Health and Welfare to evaluate its vehicle fleet and provide a report to JFAC through Legislative Services by Dec. 15 with utilization, vehicle-count appropriateness and vehicle use details. The language makes the appropriation contingent on adherence to the reporting requirement. Representative Mitchell later requested unanimous consent to accept the language; no objection was recorded.
The motion funds IT and replacement needs while the report aims to give the committee data on fleet utilization and appropriateness for oversight.
