The Wausau Economic Development Committee voted unanimously Oct. 7 to approve the Arts Commission’s recommendation for the city’s next poet laureate and alternate and send the nominations to the full City Council.
Staff and Arts Commission members presented the selection process, which followed the authorizing resolution and an RFP. A subcommittee that included a UW‑Stevens Point creative writing professor, the current poet laureate and a professional artist reviewed applications and recommended one candidate as poet laureate and a second as alternate.
Alder Neal moved to approve the nominees; Alder Tierney seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
