Meeker County commissioners approve consent agenda including licenses, equipment purchases and paid-family-leave MOUs

The Meeker County Board of Commissioners approved a multi-item consent agenda during its Oct. 7 regular session, voting unanimously to accept meeting minutes, vendor payments and a series of operational items.

The consent agenda, presented by county staff, included approval of Sept. 16 board meeting minutes; Health and Human Services county and hospital accounts payable; a resolution delegating claims authority to the county finance director; acceptance of an anonymous donation of 1,500 rounds of ammunition for sheriff’s officer training; purchase of four marked squad cars; approval of an off-site gambling permit for BFW Post 2018 for Feb. 14, 2026, at Lake Ripley; renewal or approval of retail liquor licenses for Riverside Store & Tavern and a club on-sale liquor license for the Darwin Rod and Gun Club; a quote to replace the jail kitchen cooler condenser and evaporator; a proposal to replace two front entrances at the government center; and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) to implement paid family leave for three bargaining units.

Board chair thanked the anonymous donor for the ammunition, saying the gift is “a valuable tool in the training process.”

Commissioner Van Aert moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Oberg seconded. County staff called the roll; commissioners voted yes and the motion carried.

The board did not discuss the substance of each license or contract item in detail during the public session. The consent motion was approved as a block, and specific project details and contacts were presented to the board in the staff report that accompanied the consent agenda.
