Linda Roberts told the commission she purchased property at 30290 Charles King Road in 1996 and asked to change zoning from R-2 to R-1 so she could place an additional mobile home to house a family member who helps her with medical needs.
Roberts said the area is already dominated by mobile homes and mobile-home parks; she has addresses and small lots in place and sought the rezoning as a narrowly tailored request to allow a second residence on her lot for family care. Commissioners noted the request was focused on an immediate family need and that a family petition or similar remedy could address comparable cases, but the board moved forward with the zoning change requested.
A motion to approve the R-2 to R-1 rezoning for the parcel passed with a recorded majority of commissioners voting in favor. Planning staff noted that placement of a mobile home on the parcel would still require planning/permit review through the planning department.
